Put Claude Cowork to work in your business
Cowork lets Claude take on whole workflows: files, reports, email drafts, scheduled tasks. We design the setup, the guardrails, and the training so it runs safely in an Australian business. We run our own consultancy on it.
Plain English
What Claude Cowork actually is
Claude Cowork is the agentic mode of the Claude desktop app. You give it access to a folder, connect the tools your business runs on, and delegate whole tasks rather than typing prompts: prepare the month-end pack, triage the inbox and draft replies, build the Monday brief, keep the CRM current. It works through multi-step tasks on its own and shows you the result.
It is early, it is powerful, and set up carelessly it can make a mess. That is the consulting gap. As a specialist Claude consultancy, we run Automata AI itself on Cowork: our content pipeline, filing, CRM upkeep, and reporting. The implementation you get is the system we already trust with our own business.
What we implement
A working system, not a tool tour
Workspace and permission design
The foundation most setups skip
Folder structure, file access boundaries, and project organisation designed before Claude touches anything. Cowork is powerful precisely because it acts on real files, so the permission design is the safety model.
Plugins and skills setup
Capability matched to your work
The right plugins and custom skills for your business: finance close packs, CRM upkeep, reporting, document production. We build custom skills where the off-the-shelf ones stop.
Scheduled tasks and automation
Work that happens while you sleep
Recurring briefs, inbox triage, pipeline checks, and report generation running on schedules with sensible failure behaviour. Designed so a missed run is visible, not silent.
Connector and integration setup
Email, calendar, CRM, accounting
Cowork connected to the tools your team already runs: Gmail or Microsoft 365, your CRM, accounting software, and project tools, with access scoped to what each workflow genuinely needs.
Governance and guardrails
Draft-never-send, by design
Written operating rules: what Claude may do autonomously, what requires human approval, and how client data is handled. Our default is draft-never-send for anything client-facing, and we recommend you keep it.
Team training and handover
Your team runs it, not us
Hands-on training for the people who will supervise the workflows, plus written playbooks. We hand over a running system and the skills to extend it.
Use cases
Where Cowork earns its keep
Finance and operations
Month-end close preparation, reconciliation flags, cash-flow snapshots, and a Monday morning brief that is already on the desk when the week starts.
Sales and CRM
Lead triage, follow-up drafting, CRM hygiene, and call prep packs, with every outbound message held as a draft for human approval.
Content and marketing
Research, drafting, publishing pipelines, and reporting. We run our own SEO content pipeline through Cowork, from queue to published post.
Document-heavy work
Contract review packs, report production in Word and PowerPoint, PDF processing, and standardised client deliverables generated from templates.
Honest boundaries
What we won't promise
Cowork is not magic and we will not sell it as magic. We do not promise that Claude never makes mistakes, that it can run client-facing communication unsupervised, or that Australian data residency is live today (Anthropic has announced plans; current processing is offshore). Every implementation we deliver assumes human review where judgment matters and approval gates on anything that leaves the building.
Teams that want the foundations first start with Claude training; engineering teams pair Cowork with a Claude Code rollout.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is Claude Cowork?
Claude Cowork is the agentic mode of the Claude desktop app. Instead of answering one prompt at a time, Claude takes on whole tasks: it works with files in folders you grant it, runs multi-step workflows, uses plugins and skills, connects to tools like email and CRMs, and runs scheduled tasks automatically. It brings the autonomy of Claude Code to non-technical work.
What does a Claude Cowork consultant do?
A Cowork consultant designs and implements the working system: folder and permission structure, plugins and custom skills, connectors to your business tools, scheduled tasks, governance rules, and team training. Automata AI runs its own operations on Cowork, so the implementations we deliver are patterns we use daily ourselves.
How much does a Claude Cowork setup cost in Australia?
A standard implementation, covering workspace design, plugins, connectors, two or three working workflows, governance, and training, typically starts from around $8,000 AUD over two weeks. Larger multi-team rollouts are scoped individually. You also need Claude subscriptions for the users involved, roughly $30 to $45 AUD per user per month on current plans.
Is Claude Cowork safe for business data?
Cowork only accesses folders you explicitly grant, and on paid business plans Anthropic does not train models on your data. The honest answer is that safety depends mostly on setup: scoped folder access, scoped connector permissions, and clear rules about what runs autonomously versus what needs approval. That design work is the core of our implementation, and we put it in writing so your team can audit it.
What is the difference between Claude Cowork and a regular Claude subscription?
A regular Claude chat answers questions and drafts content one response at a time. Cowork executes work: it creates and edits real files, runs workflows across multiple steps and tools, and completes scheduled tasks unattended. Chat is an assistant; Cowork is closer to a capable colleague you delegate to and review.
Can Claude Cowork replace a virtual assistant?
For document, reporting, research, and coordination work, it covers a large share of a VA workload at a fraction of the cost, and it works around the clock. It does not make phone calls or exercise judgment on sensitive relationships. Most clients land on Cowork handling the repetitive load while people keep the judgment calls, which is exactly how we structure the guardrails.

Delegate the repetitive work. Keep the judgment.
